Logistic in Function of Development of Timok Region

Scientific and technological progress in the world has contributed to the diminishing to the minimum of the production costs. So that level of label productivity can develop along with the frameworks determined the equipment. Other methods should enable higher competition of products on individual markets shortening the time and the ways of transport to those markets. Within that environmental protection is very important. Therefore alternative ecologically and economically ways of transport are established. So, everything concerns label economy and all processes in that direction envelopment interdisciplinary and common action, creating possibilities for better quality life.
The Timok Region, which is the focus of our research, is an extremely rich territory with all elements of a completely whole according to the European Union criteria. The area is 7.131 km2, 5.215 km2 of which is arable land. The population is 340.000 inhabitants of which 230.000 is labor active. It's industry is developed: some of it's municipalities, e.g. that of Negotin has large number of workers employed abroad (about 30.000 workers). National product in the years of relatively stabile economic activity (89/90 yrs.) was 3.500 USD per capita.
The development of the logistic system is directly connected with the existing natural sources on the one side and manufacturing capacities on the other. Also, basic industry is the focus of development which enables diversification of all lines of manufactured.
The region ranges from Danube in the East: to the town of Veliko Gradište in the West: to the town of Niš in the South and Crni vrh (borough Žagubica) in the North, and along the Yugoslav - Bulgarian border to the town of Pirot.
The logistic routes are 3.600 km long, out of which 2.180 of modern roads, 489 intercity roads and 600 km local roads.
The most attractive investment possibilities in this region will be directed towards the banks of the Danube, the building of marines, hotels and development nautical tourism. That includes the development of those branches, which will enable the above mention. Special attention will be paid to environmental protection raising the living standard levels.
